At Mount Horeb Lutheran Church, we are proud to be part of the South Carolina Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). At this year’s Synod Assembly, held June 12–14, 2025, several powerful and prayerfully discerned resolutions were adopted that reflect the heart of who we are and what we believe as followers of Christ.
These resolutions affirm our shared commitment to:
- Welcoming the Stranger – Supporting refugee resettlement through Lutheran Services Carolinas and advocating for the restoration of vital services to legally vetted refugees.
- Protecting Our Children – Promoting safety and dignity for all children through clear protection policies, accountability, and training within every congregation.
- Living in Truth, Unity, and Transparency – Resisting misinformation, building mutual trust, and encouraging respectful dialogue rooted in the gospel and our baptismal promises.
At The Mount, we celebrate and support these actions. We believe they reflect the gospel in action through loving our neighbors, caring for the vulnerable, and building up the Body of Christ in truth and grace. We invite you to read the full text of each resolution by clicking here, and join us in living out these commitments as a community of faith.
