Whatever stage of life you're in, there's a place for you here. Mt. Horeb offers ministries for every age and every calling.
Sunday morning worship is the heartbeat of Mt. Horeb. Our service blends the depth of Lutheran liturgical tradition with music that is both beautiful and accessible — hymns, anthems, and contemporary pieces that carry the weight of the Gospel.
Our choir, musicians, and worship team prepare every week to create services that feel both reverent and alive. Whether you love traditional hymnody or contemporary worship, you'll find something here that moves you.
Faith grows when it's challenged. Our adult formation programs create space for serious engagement with scripture, Lutheran theology, and the questions that real life raises. This isn't Sunday school in the old sense — it's genuine formation for people who want their faith to go deeper.
Sunday morning Faith Formation begins at 9:00 AM, an hour before worship. Wednesday Bible Study offers a mid-week anchor. Both are open to anyone — no prior knowledge required.
Teenagers need a place to ask hard questions, form real friendships, and encounter a faith that holds up under pressure. That's what our youth ministry exists to provide.
From weekly gatherings to service projects to retreats, we invest in young people not as the "future of the church" — but as fully present members of it right now.
Children belong in the life of the church — and at Mt. Horeb, that belief shapes everything we do for kids. From the nursery to elementary-age programming, we create environments where children encounter the faith in age-appropriate, engaging, and joyful ways.
Our Sunday school program meets during the worship hour, giving kids their own experience while parents worship. Vacation Bible School in the summer is a community highlight.
Mt. Horeb has been part of the Chapin community for 135 years. We take seriously our responsibility to care for our neighbors — locally, regionally, and globally through ELCA World Hunger and social ministry partnerships.
Serving isn't a program here — it's woven into who we are. There are regular opportunities to get involved in meaningful hands-on service throughout the year.
Our senior adults are among the most faithful, formative voices in this congregation. Senior Fellowship creates regular opportunities for connection, learning, service, and the kind of deep friendship that comes from decades of walking together.
Whether you're newly retired or have been attending Mt. Horeb for 50 years, this is a community that values your presence and your story.
