A Place to Belong.
A Way to Serve.

Life at Mt. Horeb is shaped by five core values — five verbs that underscore everything we do as a family of faith. Each one is a doorway into the life of this congregation. Start wherever fits you.

Faith That Shows Up in Chapin

Our congregation has a strong sense of helping others. Some of it happens through our own teams; a good deal of it happens because our doors and our fellowship hall are open to the town around us.

How we serve

  • Our Serve Team organizes the School Backpack program, providing food for students who need weekend meals
  • Donations and budgeted support for our local food bank and We Care
  • Global Missions support through Water Sunday and the ELCA Japanese Missionaries
  • Habitat for Humanity and Thrivent Builds
  • A visitation team that brings communion and company to members who can't join us in person

Who we host

  • An annual testing site for Chapin High School
  • The Chapin Arts Festival
  • The Labor Day Car Show
  • Chapin Jr. Woman's Club and the Dutch Fork Choral Society
  • Our own Ice Cream Social, Game Night, and a community Trunk or Treat

Our facilities — large meeting spaces, classrooms, and a commercial kitchen — are used by the church and by civic and community organizations alike.

Not sure where to start?

Pray, participate, volunteer, listen and serve — there's a place here for whatever you bring. Come as you are on Sunday, or send us a note and we'll help you find it.
