Greetings Camp Friends,
Reading through the stories found in our recent LINK newsletter Click here to read the LINK newsletter, the word “priorities” comes to mind. Forming faith, less screens, family time without distractions, sharing meals, reading God’s word, gathering to grow community – these are all priorities for campers, churches, and pastors, all accomplished because they made the decision to spend time at camp and with the camp community. This is what we do. It’s who we are. It’s our mission.
As we write these words, we are fresh off the devastation of both hurricanes Helene and Milton. Our camps look different, and there is still much work to do, especially at Lutheridge and Lutherock. But you - our camp family - have shown us that camp remains a strong priority for you.
YOU have shown up to clear trees. We are grateful.
YOU have given generously. We are grateful.
YOU have been so #campstrong. We are grateful.
We started this year working to turn camp around financially - our priority and our passion. We were on track to a balanced budget when the hurricanes hit. More work remains, and in all honesty, the hurricane damage will make it harder - but it remains a priority for us.
The stories in this LINK represent our “why” - and we know that together, with YOU, we will get there. As we look to the end of this year, our staff and our board, along with both of us, have not taken our eyes off the priority of a sustainable and healthy ministry that continues to offer powerful faith formation, leadership development, and community building. The work we do together is too important for the future of campers, churches, and pastors. Thank you for being with us for the long haul.
With gratitude,
Mike + Mitzie
